Sorry it's kinda long. I should explain who the character is that Jamie's with. She's my OC Aurora McLeod, she travelled with the tenth doctor, she lost her husband and unborn baby a year before she met the Doc. There's a long tangled and tragic history to her that she isn't even aware of. But she finds herself travelling with Jamie and the second Doc due to an accident in the time vortex causing the TARDIS to go haywire. This is a snippet of what might happen. Enjoy!
“It’s been a great few days, defending the Earth from blood thirsty beasties, meeting you, saving the world again, having a great holiday in the TARDIS and having the Doctor drop us off on a beautiful bay” Jamie lay in the fresh soft grass, his arms tucked under his head. Cardiff bay looked so stunning in this weather and Mermaid Quay luckily wasn’t as busy at this time of day.
“Yeah, it’s been..... amazing” Aurora couldn’t believe it either. She had only met Jamie a few days ago but already she was falling a little bit for him.
‘Doctor look! There’s something... someone appearing in the TARDIS!’ Jamie held on tight to the lapels of the Doctor’s baggy jacket.
‘Oh my word Jamie!’ the doctor screeched in shock.....
“You want to get an ice cream?” Jamie grinned with a glint in his eye.
“Yeah, its just the right weather for one” Aurora smiled back as they sat up, the wind was whisking her fringe around her face in a swirling, hypnotic movement.
“My treat” he smiled again.
“But-“ Aurora couldn’t finish her protest.
“The Doctor gave me a few pounds, I’d like to spend them on you” there was a generosity, a sort of love in his eyes that Aurora couldn’t say no to. After all, she quite fancied him. Aurora always found it hard to say no to a handsome man.
“Wow! I know I’ve had it before but, ice cream is one of the best things a highland man could ever taste!” Jamie gushed as he tucked into his ice cream.
“Well, it makes for a good hangover cure” she giggled.
Jamie frowned, “hangover?”
Aurora blushed a little, so many words she used were beyond Jamie’s time, she smiled politely and explained, “Jamie, you know when you’ve been drinking a lot of whiskey and after a while, you get a sick feeling and a pain in your head?”
“Aye! A hangover!” he laughed, then frowned.
“Hang-over.... Its a funny word for it”
“It is, usually my mates and I say we feel a bit ‘rough’ or we say we’ve got a sore head rather than using the word ‘hangover’” and she laughed. Jamie smiled as he watched her giggle to herself. He had grown fond of her silly outbursts of laughter. She had a sort of, contagious laugh that warmed his heart.
“A sore head is definitely one way to put it- oh no!” Jamie had spilled some of his ice cream down his tight black shirt causing a stain.
“This is why cones can be deadly” she smiled as she took out a tissue from her pocket. She gently, almost afraid to, touched the tissue off his chest where the stain had set in.
“Gentle hands” Jamie gazed into her eyes as she stared up at him.
“Oh dear” she bit her lip and then looked away. Coughing nervously she gazed back out at the bay.
“So, the Doctor left us off here.... will he be able to bring me back home? To my Doctor?”
“Of course! They’re the same person, the Doctor always pulls through, I’ll bet that your Doctor is fighting off some wild beastie to get to you. A beautiful lassie like you, oh I wouldn’t be long about tearing the galaxy apart to get you back” Jamie wrapped his arm around her. Aurora could feel her cheeks blushing, she had never in her life been one for blushing but being around Jamie made her feel like there were butterflies in her stomach and when he looked at her with that smile she felt her heart jump in her chest.
“I’m just worried, the Doctor always told me that he can never meet his past self or his future self that if he did the walls of time would collapse and a paradox would occur” Aurora panicked,
“Oh aye... eh... a what now?” Jamie casually asked amongst a confusion of deciphering what certain words meant.
“I mean, what if I can’t go back?” she felt like crying again,
“No please don’t cry” Jamie frowned as he placed his hand gently on her face.
“I wouldn’t mind if you had to stay. I like having you around... I’ll be sad to see y’ leave”
“I.... I’d miss you too Jamie.....” Though Aurora wanted to go home to her own Doctor, she knew she’d miss Jamie. He was a gentleman, he was charming and funny and she adored him from the moment she met him but she needed her Doctor, she was emotionally torn between two lives now.
“M’be ya could stay?” he suggested excitedly, holding her hands in his. His grip was tight, determined.
“No Jamie, I belong back in my time.... My Doctor needs me... I think..... I... He’s all I have back in my time”
“But he’s here in my time too, the same man!... y’ said you have nothing for you in your time line... well.... Why don’t y’ nae stay?.... M’be... M’be I could convince y’?”
Aurora gazed at him wide eyed, “Convince me? How?”
Jamie held her face in his hands, smiling a cheeky grin he gazed into her emerald eyes that sparkled from the reflection of the sunny bay waters. Standing on Mermaid Quay on a beautiful summer’s day, Jamie McCrimmon placed his lips softly on Aurora’s and convinced her to stay.
